Ingredients
Scale:
1 pound ground beef (preferably 80/20)
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
4 large yellow onions
1/2 cup barbecue sauce (optional)
Olive oil for brushing
Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Peel the onions and cut off about 1 inch from the top and the bottom. Carefully hollow out each onion using a spoon or a corer, leaving about 1/2 inch of the outer layer intact.
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, crumbled bacon, shredded cheddar cheese, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
Generously fill each hollowed onion with the meat mixture, packing it well without overstuffing. Drizzle a small amount of barbecue sauce on top if desired.
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 400°F). Brush the st■ onions with olive oil and wrap each one tightly in aluminum foil.
Place the wrapped onion bombs on the grill and cook for about 30-35 minutes. Check for doneness.
Carefully remove the foil from the onion bombs and let them cool for a couple of minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
