Description
Kentucky Pecan Pie is a beloved dessert that captures the essence of southern baking. This rich and sweet treat, made with buttery pecans nestled in a velvety filling, is perfect for holiday celebrations or any occasion that calls for a nutty dessert.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour, sifted
½ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
½ cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
4 to 5 tablespoons ice water
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup granulated sugar
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
4 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 ½ cups pecan halves
¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and sugar. Add the diced cold butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
On a well-floured surface, roll the chilled dough into a circle about 12 inches in diameter. Transfer it to a 9-inch pie pan and crimp the edges.
Place the pie crust in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden. Set aside to cool.
In a large bowl, whisk together the light corn syrup, granulated sugar, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth. Fold in the pecan halves.
Pour the filling into the pre-baked pie crust, ensuring even distribution of the pecans.
Bake the pie for 60-70 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown.
Allow the pie to cool on a wire rack for at least 2 hours before slicing.
