Bursting with sweet and tart flavors, these colorful desserts not only taste great but also look stunning on any holiday table.
Ingredients
Scale:
6 medium-sized apples (red varieties like Fuji, Gala, or even Granny Smith for a tart contrast work best)
2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Food coloring (red and blue)
1 cup white chocolate chips
1/2 cup blue and red sprinkles
1 tablespoon coconut oil
Instructions
Prepare your workspace by laying out parchment paper on a baking sheet.
Insert a wooden stick into the top of each apple, pushing it in about halfway.
In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely.
Increase the heat to high and bring the mixture to a rolling boil. Do not stir once boiling.
Clip a candy thermometer to the side of the pan and cook until it reaches 300°F.
Remove from heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and red food coloring for the first batch.
Carefully dip each apple into the hot candy mixture, swirling to coat evenly.
Repeat the dipping process with blue food coloring for the second batch.
While the candy coating is still warm, sprinkle the tops with red and blue sprinkles.
Let the candied apples sit until the coating hardens, about 30 minutes.
